What a year. In 1915 the Ford Model T was riding high, and so was the Barber dime. That's when a rumor linking the car and the coin appeared in newspapers across the country. The story wasn't true but it resulted in increased awareness of branch mints and had a lot of people looking for mintmarks on their coins. The free publicity didn't hurt Model T sales either....
