Australian Specimens Hot in Downies Auction

The extremely buoyant state of the Australian paper money market was further demonstrated by the prices realized by seven lots of 2000- to 2005-issue decimal specimen notes offered by Downies in its Nov. 1 Melbourne auction.

Top price of A$10,500 (U.S. $9,650) was achieved by a $10 and $20 pair of Macfarlane-Henry notes, both with serials CC02 000000 (Standard Catalog of World Paper Money Nos. P-58, 59)....
