Model T for Dimes

What a year. In 1915 the Ford Model T was riding high, and so was the Barber dime. That's when a rumor linking the car and the coin appeared in newspapers across the country. The story wasn't true but it resulted in increased awareness of branch mints and had a lot of people looking for mintmarks on their coins. The free publicity didn't hurt Model T sales either....

eBay to Implement Sweeping New Slabs Policy?

There has been a rumor swirling around the coin collecting discussion boards claiming that eBay is about to implement sweeping policy changes in the Coins categories. This rumor claims that eBay is only recognizing a few top grading services, including NGC, NCS, PCGS, ANACS, and ICG. This new policy is variously (according to assorted rumors) already in effect, going into effect Sept. 17, 2007, or going into effect Oct. 1, 2007. I have tried contacting eBay three times through three different channels since this rumor broke and the best I've been able to glean from them by way of confirmation is this minimalist statement:...

Use Patterns Affect Values of Trade Dollars

Though the Trade dollar was not even produced for circulation for a full decade, it would be safe to say that the Trade dollar had an enormous impact at the time. Trade dollar supplies today are suspect, but with a limited number of collectors and some historic uncertainty as to just how collectors should view the coins, prices remain well below the levels that might be expected. It's a combination that makes Trade dollars a great collection and a fascinating series to study....

First Coin Covers Sept 11 Thomas Jefferson

Remember, I am not a finical advisor however I do like the First Coin Covers that are coming out Sept 11 for Thomas Jefferson. I think that one can make some money off of these product from the us mint, here is why: Firstly Thomas Jefferson is just as popular as George Washington. Washington coin covers are selling for about $30-$38. A profit of about $15 to $20. Also, these Coin covers are limited to 50,000 coin covers and they they will sell out in a week or two. Not in a few hours like the spouse gold coins!! This coin cover has a money making potential in about 3-6 months worth of holding. Unfortunately the John adams coin covers are just a few dollars over the 14.95 price so one could wouldn't make a profit with them at this point. I still think TJ is a winner and money can be made by flipping these coin covers in 3-6 months. Good luck with investing...
