Few things are as misunderstood as badly as the dash (-) in a column of figures, such as mintages.
A typical message from a reader might say: "I purchased a coin that you had listed in the Standard Catalog of World Coins with a dash in the price column. I paid a premium because the dealer said it was valuable because the price was not listed. When I sent you a question about it, you responded with listings from another catalog, which showed I had bought a common date for a high price. Why didn't you have the price listed if the piece was common?"...
